This Privacy Policy describes how Merite (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our mobile application (the “App”).

1. Overview

Our primary goal is to help you focus. We believe your data belongs to you. Merite is designed to process your data locally on your device. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

2. Screen Time API & Family Controls

Merite uses Apple’s Screen Time API (Family Controls) to provide blocking functionality.

• How it works: You select apps and categories to block directly on your device. The App restricts access to these selected apps until you withdraw time on that.
• Data Privacy: The selection of apps, your usage history, and the specific websites you visit are processed entirely by the iOS system framework. Merite does not have access to, nor does it transmit, your browsing history, app usage logs, or specific app selections to our servers. All blocking logic occurs locally on your device.

3. Data Collection and Usage

A. Personal Data

We do not require you to create an account to use Merite. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.

B. App Data

Your preferences, focus history, task lists, and virtual rewards are stored locally on your device or synced via your personal iCloud account (if applicable). We do not have access to this data.

C. Analytics

To understand how our App is used and to improve its features, we use a privacy-first analytics service called TelemetryDeck, alongside default Apple metrics (App Analytics). TelemetryDeck helps us track anonymous usage events (such as when you complete onboarding, create a task, or change the app theme). Important: This data is entirely anonymized and cannot be linked back to you as an individual. For example, when you update your block limits, we only track that an interaction occurred, not which specific apps or websites you selected.

4. Third-Party Services

We use TelemetryDeck for privacy-preserving usage analytics as described above. The App does not integrate with third-party advertising networks or data brokers. We do not sell or share your data with any third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Security

Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, your data remains as secure as your device. We rely on the security features of iOS to protect your local data.

6. Children’s Privacy

Merite is safe for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
